51 After failing to sink any ships while patrolling off Iceland, U-352 returned to her home port in Saint-Nazaire, France, for minor repairs (above) before her second and final cruise. Surviving crew members were interred at a prisoner of war camp in Charleston, South Carolina. They later reported on the good treatment they received, including regular meals (right). The surviving members of U-352’s crew originally were taken to a temporary POW camp at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, because being transported by the Icarus to a permanent facility in Charleston.
