The evening’s festivities, beginning at 6 pm, include dining, an art gallery, student performances, visual art exhibits, a live auction and a toast and roast of the beloved founder. Former Major League baseball player Trot Nixon is the featured guest. Proceeds benefit WHAT, a community nonprofit organization providing area teens and young adults ages 11-24 access to medical, mental and nutritional health services. Proceeds benefit Airlie’s Environmental Education Program, which provides learning opportunities in horticulture, sustainable development, and water quality to children and adults. CAPE FEAR HEART WALK October 18, 2014 UNCW Athletic Track Field Support heart health and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases during the Cape Fear Heart Walk. Prohibition Night is the theme and the Doug Irving Trio entertains. Gala guests enjoy signature foods prepared by local restaurants and caterers. A live auction features vacation packages; the silent auction includes vintage items. The evening begins at 6:30 pm with tickets ranging from $50 to $100 per person.
